Hillsborough County Tax Collector Doug Belden
endorsed Bob McCann for State Representative,
District 67.
"I endorse Bob McCann because of his commitment
to saving taxpayers money through consolidation
and efficiency in government," said Doug Belden.
"Bob and I share the goal of making Florida's
state and local government the most modern and
efficient in the country.
"Doug Belden has been a pillar of the community
for many years," said Bob McCann. "I am humbled
to have him by my side and on my team."
Tax Collector Doug Belden is the most recent
addition to an ever growing list of McCann
supporters including former State Senator John
Grant, Hillsborough County Commissioners Mark
Sharpe and Ken Hagan and Representatives Ed
Homan, Ronald "Doc" Renuart and Paige Kreegel.
Doug Belden was elected Tax Collector in 1998.
He is a Tampa native and lives on Harbor Island
with his son, Doug Jr. Prior to election, he
worked in real estate before working for the
State Attorney's Office as head of the office's
Elderly Abuse Task Force. During that time, he
also served on the Tampa Sports Authority.
Bob McCann lives in Bradenton with his wife
Rosemarie. Bob McCann is a native of Chicago and
served in the U.S. Navy from 1975 through 1979.
After completing his naval service, he attended
college on the G.I. Bill and went on to graduate
from medical school at Kirksville College of
Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri in
1988.
In addition to being a practicing emergency room
physician, Bob serves as an adjunct professor of
family medicine at LECOM-Bradenton (Lake Erie
College of Osteopathic Medicine) and is also a
practicing attorney working in the area of
medical laws.
State House District 67 covers southern
Hillsborough County as well as Eastern Manatee
and Sarasota Counties and will be open in 2010.
Bob McCann is a registered Republican.
